Upon leaving the Hampden neighborhood, 33rd Street led to Lake Montebello, Morgan State University and Harford Road (Route 147).  A few miles into Harford County, Route 147 merged onto U.S. Route 1.  Bicycling on Route 1 allowed me to cross the Susquehenna River at Conowingo Dam.  A brief visit to Rising Sun, a hamlet just south of the Mason and Dixon Line, took me off Route 1, where competition between farmland and subdivisions was apparent. Route 1, or roads parallel to it, brought me all the way into Philadelphia.  The weather was picture perfect; the ride was challenging.
